Digital painting of Jimis 68 Strat

Digital painting of Jimi's '68 Strat

I’m starting this blog to highlight art that I find interesting. Sure, I’m doing it for extra credit in my Art History class but that’s just a formality. There have been so many art movements throughout history with every one being as important as the next. I plan to touch on as many of them as I can over the next eleven weeks, well nine now.

The painting above was created by me. It’s a digital painting done in Corel Painter X. I used the “artist’s oil’s” brush to achieve the appearance of an oil painting. I am, myself, a fan of photo-realism so I tried to portray that style with this piece. I have been playing guitar for fifteen years and started because of Jimi Hendrix. I thought this piece would be a good way to merge my two greatest interests: music and art.
